These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and ProjoMania ("ProjoMania", "we", "us"), the operator of OBM — Backup Manager for Odoo. They govern your use of the hosted service available at obm.projomania.com and app-obm.projomania.com ("OBM Pro" or the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.
The self-hosted OBM Community Edition is separate free software distributed under the GNU AGPL-3.0 license; your use of it is governed by that license, not by these Terms (except for the trademark provisions in section 17).
1. Who we are
ProjoMania is a software studio based in Cairo, Egypt (projomania.com). You can reach us at [email protected].
2. What the Service is
OBM Pro is a backup management service for self-hosted Odoo instances that you operate. Depending on your plan, it connects to your Odoo servers over HTTPS using Odoo's standard database-manager API, runs backups on the schedules you configure, verifies the resulting archives, stores them, applies your retention rules, performs restores and restore drills on your instruction, and alerts you about failures and staleness.
The Service does not work with Odoo.sh or Odoo Online, and it requires that your Odoo instances have the database manager enabled. You — not we — operate the Odoo servers being backed up.
3. Accounts
- You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account, including activity by team members you invite.
- You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Service. The Service is offered to businesses and professionals; it is not directed at children.
- You may only connect Odoo instances that you own or are authorized to back up. Registering an instance's master password with OBM represents that you have that authority.
4. Orders, payment, taxes — Paddle as merchant of record
Paid subscriptions are sold by Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd and its affiliates), our reseller and merchant of record. When you buy a subscription:
- your payment is processed by Paddle, and Paddle's checkout terms apply to the purchase;
- Paddle calculates, collects and remits applicable VAT / sales tax for your location;
- Paddle issues your invoices and receipts and handles payment disputes and refunds;
- we do not receive or store your full payment card details — Paddle passes us only what we need to provision your subscription.
Subscriptions renew automatically (monthly or annually, as you chose) until cancelled. Prices are listed at obm.projomania.com/pricing; if we change prices, the change applies from your next renewal and we will notify you in advance.
5. Free trial
New accounts receive a 14-day trial of the Growth plan. No payment method is required and nothing is charged automatically when the trial ends. If you do not subscribe, your account reverts to a read-only state and section 8 applies as if you had cancelled at the end of the trial — no new backups run, and anything already backed up stays downloadable.
6. Plan limits
Each plan includes a number of databases and an amount of backup storage. Those limits are hard caps, not metered overage:
- we do not charge per-database or per-gigabyte overage fees; you are never billed more than your plan price for exceeding a limit;
- the Service warns you as you approach a limit and then declines new work at it — adding a further database, or starting a further backup — until you reduce usage or upgrade;
- we will never delete your backup data because of a billing issue. If fees remain unpaid we may suspend new backups and restores, but archives already stored stay intact and downloadable, as described in section 8.
7. Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time from the app or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for; the Service remains fully available until then. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
8. What happens to your data after cancellation
- When your subscription ends, your account becomes read-only: no new backups run, but you can sign in and download every stored archive.
- We do not delete your archives on an automatic timer when a subscription lapses. They remain stored and downloadable, and we will give you notice by e-mail before we delete anything.
- You may request deletion of your archives and stored instance credentials at any time; we complete it within 30 days of the request, and purge them from backups of our own infrastructure on a rolling basis thereafter. We may also delete data on notice where we discontinue the Service or terminate your account for a material breach of section 9.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- connect or back up systems you do not own or lack authorization to access — this is the cardinal rule of a tool that holds master passwords;
- use the Service to store or distribute content that is unlawful in your jurisdiction or ours;
- probe, disrupt or overload the Service or storage infrastructure, or attempt to access other customers' data;
- circumvent plan limits, metering or trial restrictions (for example by cycling accounts);
- resell or white-label the Service without a written agreement with us;
- use the Service to compete unfairly, e.g. scraping it to clone it while a customer.
We may suspend accounts that violate this section, with notice where reasonably possible. Section 6's promise not to delete data over billing issues does not apply to material breaches of this section (for example, backing up systems you were not authorized to access).
10. Your data, our role
- You own your backup data. Backup archives are your content; we obtain no rights in them beyond what is needed to provide the Service.
- Backup archives are stored encrypted at rest in Backblaze B2, in the EU. Instance master passwords are stored encrypted and are used only to call your Odoo instance's own backup/restore API.
- Where backup archives contain personal data, we process it as your processor under the Data Processing Addendum, which forms part of these Terms for business customers.
- Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle the personal data of account holders themselves.
11. Service changes and availability
We aim for the Service to be available at least 99.5% of each month, excluding scheduled maintenance — this is a target we manage to, not a contractual SLA with credits. We may improve or change features over time; if a change materially reduces the Service's core functionality (backing up, storing, restoring), we will notify you in advance and you may cancel with a pro-rata refund of prepaid, unused fees.
12. Disclaimers — read this one
Backups are a redundancy layer, and OBM is built to make that layer trustworthy: archives are verified, staleness is alerted, and restore drills exist precisely because untested backups fail. But no backup service can guarantee that every restore will succeed in every circumstance. You remain responsible for your disaster-recovery posture, including keeping the database manager reachable, providing correct master passwords, and acting on the alerts and drill results the Service gives you.
Except as expressly stated in these Terms, the Service is provided "as is", and we disclaim all implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement) to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or goodwill; and (b) our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is capped at the amounts you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for fraud or willful misconduct.
14. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your breach of section 3 (authority over connected instances) or section 9 (acceptable use), including claims by owners of systems you connected without authorization.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give at least 14 days' notice by email or in-app notice before they take effect. If you do not agree, cancel before the effective date; continued use after that date is acceptance.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the courts of Cairo, Egypt have exclusive jurisdiction — except that (a) your purchase through Paddle's checkout is additionally subject to Paddle's terms, and (b) if you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose law grants you mandatory protections or a home forum, those rights are not displaced. Before going to court, contact us — almost everything is fixable by email.
17. Trademarks and independence from Odoo S.A.
OBM is an independent product of ProjoMania and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Odoo S.A. "Odoo" is a trademark of Odoo S.A., used here only to describe compatibility. "OBM" and the OBM logo are marks of ProjoMania; the AGPL license of OBM CE covers its code, not our marks.
